On September 10, 2012, the Hiroshima University International Center (Director: Shin-ichi Uye) held a joint graduation ceremony and study achievement presentation for the International Student Project in the reception hall on the 2nd floor of the Faculty Club. After 1 p.m. there was a presentation of the achievements of the Program for Japanese Language and Culture and after 14:30 the joint graduation ceremony was held. Then, after 3 p. m. the results of the Japanese Training Course were reported.



【Outline of the Program for Japanese Language and Culture】

This program is composed of elements of the Japanese Training Course (Courses that can be taken and selected from “Japanese Language /Japanese Affairs”), the Special Lectures and Visiting Program on Japanese Culture, individual guidance and project studies. Trainees are mostly embassy recommended students of the “Program for Japanese Language and Culture” and accepted by the International Center or trainees from the “Program for Japanese Language and Culture” accepted by the Faculty of Education based on inter-department agreements. This program has been held 27 times now and this season 4 students of 4 different nationalities attended the classes.



【Outline of the Japanese Training Course】

This course is designed for international students progressing to a graduate school and is intensive training to develop their basic knowledge and ability of Japanese language necessary to do research at a graduate school. The course consists of two terms: From April to September and from October to March of the following year. The main subject is Japanese with topics such as grammar, sentence pattern, listening comprehension, reading ability and characters, but there are also elements of Japanese culture, cross-cultural understanding etc. This program has been held 54 times now, and this season 9 students from 7 different nationalities attended the classes.
