Visit by Indonesian Students of the University of Brawijaya

From November 27 to December 5 2013, 14 students led by an instructor under a student exchange program from the University of Brawijaya, which is in Malang city of East Java in the Republic of Indonesia, are currently visiting Hiroshima University.

Last September, twenty four first-year students of HU were sent to the University of Brawijaya under the 12th START program. At that time the University of Brawijaya requested that they be also allowed to dispatch students to HU and so this is how this visit has been possible. It is the first time for all students to visit Japan. Also during their nine day stay here, they will take classes on Japanese society and peace, study Japanese, make a field trip to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, Mazda company, and Miyajima, and experience Zen meditation. This will be followed by an achievements presentation on the final day. Also, Hiroshima University will create an opportunity for students particularly for those who visited Indonesia under the 6th and 12th START program to do exchange and provide both the universities an opportunity to deepen their friendship.

The visiting Indonesian students who are used to a warm climate all year around were in high spirits to see tree leaves change to a reddish colour and a light fall of snow in Saijo.
