HU accepted visually-impaired students from the Special Education College of Changchun University (China)

From 12th to 19th May 2019, the Morito Institute of Global Higher Education of Hiroshima University accepted 8 students with visual impairment from the Special Education College of Changchun University for the Japanese Language and Culture Special Program.

The Japanese Language and Culture Special Program has been held since 2010, accepting overseas youngsters who are interested in Japanese language and culture. The program aims to help the participants deepen their understanding of Japan and to encourage them to come back to study at Hiroshima University (HU) in future. It was the fourth time for the HU Morito Institute of Global Higher Education to accept students with special needs for this program.

During the program, in addition to the Atomic Bomb Dome, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, and Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima, the participants also paid a visit to a special support school and Hiroshima Information Symphony, a local company in Hiroshima City. Besides that, there were field trips to HU Accessibility Center and HU Hospital.

The participants expressed their desires to come back and study in Japan in the future. We hope that this program will spark the motivation of more students with special needs to pursue their studies in HU.
