On January 24th 2020, a group of 24 Indonesian students and members of society visited Hiroshima University (HU) as part of the JENESYS2019 ASEAN Inbound Program and attended a lecture titled, “The History of ‘The City of Peace’, Hiroshima and Hiroshima University” by Associate Professor Michio Komiyama of Morito Institute of Global Higher Education. This program is promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan with the aim of boosting understanding towards Japan among foreign nationals.

The lecture was followed by lunch with 10 HU students and then an exchange meeting where HU students told the Indonesian participants about why they chose to study at HU and how their student lives are like, answering lots of questions from the participants. Thus, this meeting provided a good opportunity for all of them to know each other.

We hope that through this kind of exchange event, our students will have the opportunity to experience deep cross-cultural interaction, and thus will become personnel with an international perspective active in the global society.
