【Recent highlights】
Our recent publications are as follows, “Progesterone Suppresses Uterine Contraction by Reducing Odontogenic Porphyromonas gingivalis Induced Chronic Inflammation in Mice” (Teraoka et al, Biomolecules, 2022), “Selective Inhibition of L-type Amino Acid Transporter 1 Suppresses Cell Proliferation in Ovarian Clear Cell Carcinoma” (Sekine et al, Anticancer Research, 2023), “Contorolling Trophoblast Cell Fusion in the Human Placenta – Transcriptional Regulation of Suppressyn, an Endogenous Inhibitor of Syncytin-1”(Sugimoto et al, Biomolecules, 2023), “The Role of the Placental Enzyme Indoleamine 2,3-Dioxygenase in Normal and Abnormal Human Pregnancy”(Kudo et al, Int J Mol Sci, 2024).
In addition, we are developing a new treatment strategy targeting amino acid transporters for ovarian clear cell carcinoma, and conducting joint research with the Program of Basic Biology, Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life, the Cellular and Molecular Biology, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the department of Radiation Oncology, Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences. We are working on “building a new diagnosis and treatment effect prediction system using artificial intelligence (AI) that integrates biological analysis and medical images for gynecological cancer”.
Furthermore, by applying organoid technology, we succeeded in reproducing the ovarian cancer by introducing various genes into the epithelium of the fallopian tube in mice, and are currently preparing to submit the results.
Recent clinical research are as follows: a pilot study aimed at sentinel node navigation surgery and the study for uterus transplantation as a functional reconstruction technique.
