【Education】
Pediatric nursing is a field in which the health and wellbeing of children and their families are comprehensively supported based on the principles of the “Convention on the Rights of the Child”. In this laboratory, the human-environment system is discussed from an ecological viewpoint, and education in pediatric healthcare and nursing is provided based on the results of studies on fundamental medical (e.g., genetics and neuroscience) and psychosocial (e.g., psychology, pedagogy, and sociology) fields. To deepen the understanding of pediatric nursing, necessary knowledge and theories are taught during lectures, necessary techniques are provided during seminars, and such knowledge and techniques are integrated during pediatric nursing practice. In this integration nursing practice, education in continued nursing care and interprofessional cooperation are also provided. In graduation research, the students' goals are to achieve their tasks and learn the basic methods of research.

【Research】
Pediatric nursing aims to clarify health problems caused by the interaction between the characteristics of children (e.g., genetic factors) and various environmental factors (social and natural environmental factors), develop methods to resolve these problems, and train educators, researchers, and professionals who are able to clarify and resolve such problems. As support for children and their families in a difficult situation, postgraduate students are tackling the health problems of children with cancer, disabled children, infants with a low birth weight, single parents, and their children.
