【Recent highlights】
Our recent research entitled “Comprehensive T-Cell Receptor Repertoire Analysis Using Deep Sequencing and Single Cell Cloning Reveals Extreme Oligoclonality of Ex Vivo Expanded Cytomegalovirus-Reactive Cytotoxic T-Cells“ was selected as one of the winners of 2015 American Society of Hematology Abstract Acheivement Award. This study aimed to reveal in-depth landscape of antigen-specific CD8+ T-cell repertoire, which we hope will eventually give a clue to the general mechanisms by which naïve T-cells are selected as effector T-cells and long-lived memory T-cells.
【Education】
Our department was created in 1959 as part of Radiation Biology Research Center of Hiroshima University, having been recognized as one of the oldest education/research units in RIRBM. Since its establishment, our mission has been focused on education and researches on diagnosis and clinical management of various types of hematologic neoplasms, bone marrow failure, and bleeding/thrombotic disorders. Always on the cutting-edge scientific/medical knowledge, we offer an individualized education program by “polylogue-based” hands-on approach.
【Research】
1.Ultra-high-resolution monitoring of human immune system using unbiased high-throughput sequencing of T-cell and B-cell receptors.
2.Clinical development of adoptive cellular therapy using gene-edited T-cells
3.Development of comprehensive cell therapy for acute and late radiation effects using bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells.
4.Analysis of radiation-induced responses during early embryonic development of zebrafish.
5.Comprehensive research for improving quality of life in patients with hematologic malignancies.
