【Recent highlights】
Oral cancer has a relatively poor prognosis and the development of effective treatments is eagerly awaited. Our mission is to develop new therapeutic methods using cells that have been edited for genes that are highly expressed in oral cancer. We also believe that oral cancer is a rare cancer and that the number of cases at a single institution is too limited to conduct clinical research with a high level of evidence, so we are actively involved in multicenter clinical research (Japan Oral Oncology Group; JOOG) .

Profiles of Faculty and Research Scholars

【Education】
In the School of Dentistry, we are in charge of oral surgery and basic practice of oral and maxillofacial medicine, and mainly lecture on diagnosis and treatment of inflammation, trauma, benign and malignant tumors in the oral and maxillofacial regions. At the graduate school, we are mainly in charge of oral oncology, and we provide education aimed at acquiring a specialist in oral surgery, while enhancing a high level of expertise and specialization.

【Research】
1. Multicenter clinical research on oral cancer.
2. Genetic and molecular diagnostic and therapeutic research on oral cancer and salivary gland tumors.
3. Molecular and genetic diagnostic and therapeutic research on craniofacial, maxillofacial, and oral diseases.
4. Pathogenic mechanism, diagnosis and treatment research using disease-specific iPS cells.
5. Research on dental treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.
6. Research on the development of remote-controlled dental chair.
