[For applicants planning to enroll as Research Students from outside Japan] Important Information on COVID-19

May 22, 2020

Please note that depending on the circumstances of COVID-19, you may not be able to enter Japan by the enrollment date (Oct 1) or you may face difficulties upon entry.

(1) Due to border enforcement measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 imposed by the Japanese government, individuals arriving in Japan via any of the countries/regions which are subject to the entry ban will be denied entry to Japan.

(2) Due to the border enforcement measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, students that are arriving from countries/regions subject to self-quarantine must stay in a hotel for 14 days following the day you arrive in Japan. This can be very costly; depending on accommodation type and food expenses, it is likely to be more than 200,000 yen. It is your own responsibility to cover any such costs. You are also required to refrain from using public transport, including transportation from the airport.

Regarding these matters, please be sure to check the latest updates regarding the border enforcement measures in relation to COVID-19 and get prepared ahead of time.

If you are unable to travel to Japan by the scheduled enrollment date, please contact the Student Support Office where you submitted your application.
