(10 Aug. 2019, Internship at JICA Bolivia office)

This is Eka Tamura, sending 1st weekly report from JICA Bolivia office.
I left for Bolivia on August 4th, started
from 17:00. When do you think I arrived in Bolivia?.......!!!!  the answer is "on August 6, 1:25 am. (in Japan 14:25 pm)" It took 45 hours.Could you imagine it that I had had 2times 12hours flights, but not yet have arrived. I changed 3 times airports. When we arrived in Bolivia, there is 4000m above!! (La Paz Airport is the highest airport in the world.) I was so tired, but I could arrive without a problem. (My suitcases also at the same time arrived.)
August 6 is Bolivian independence day. So I took a break 1 day then I started my job on Wednesday. Only for the past  3 days, but I felt this internship job will end very fast. I think the other member's Internship will be started a little later. So please take the time to prepare for your good job. I put the data which I made for Bolivia's event. If you can participate in it, please inform me. Hehehe

Short Report 2 (from Bolivia,TAMURA Eka)

(19 Aug. 2019, Internship at JICA Bolivia office)

The last Friday I have been to Oruro where is maternal and child health projects are doing to participate the presentation.(It takes 3hours by car from the office.) When I was working as a volunteer, I worked by my self so It was the first time that I took part in the presentation which held various medical institutions and government agency. I felt that moment, our activity is also made from such an agency's activities.
The last Sunday I worked for Culture introduction in the Bolivian park. There are many kinds of country embassies and institutions.
I put "Yukata" so I was taken many photos with participants.

Short Report 3 (from Bolivia,TAMURA Eka)

(25 Aug. 2019, Internship at JICA Bolivia office )

Already it had past 2weeks from when I started the internship's job.I see a little by little about the office situation. The office workers have a lot of work other than Public relations, so its works tend to be later. I have changed my plan thatI did in the last presentation. Because I work here for only two months, but I want to put an idea that can be sustained. For example, there was one request from volunteer coordinators. They said to want to disseminate a much more "volunteer voice".  I made one format to upload "volunteers voice" by Facebook that contents are easy to make it casually. And I advance that put into originally scheduled. So it is new things but also a combination of existing work. I hope to be executed my idea.

Short Report 4 (from Bolivia,TAMURA Eka)

(4 Sept. 2019, Internship at JICA Bolivia office )

There are only 3 weeks left in Bolivia. I want to plan what I can do in the remaining period.I did one questionnaire to get information about JICA bolivia office Facebook followers. From this result, I could get the result from 140 persons. They are following our FB to get information about international cooperation in Bolivia but also Japanese culture, information about volunteer class, and the other country information too. I analyze more and make a presentation in Spanish.

Short Report 5 (from Bolivia,TAMURA Eka)

(16 Sept. 2019, Internship at JICA Bolivia office )

Last week I took part in a meeting of south-south cooperation in Bolivia. JICA Bolivia had an opportunity that could present our activity of south-south cooperation. There were 10 present taters from Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, Chile... etc. I wrote this event's article to post the Facebook page.In the article need to write down concise facts, but also need to put my opinion to attract readers. It's difficult for me that write down it in Japanese, also difficult to write in Spanish. But why I could it? Because I'm working with a lot of help from my coworkers.  So I would like to express my gratitude "Thank you" for them when I go back to Japan. I work on hard the left two weeks.

Short Report 6 (from Bolivia,TAMURA Eka)

(22 Sept. 2019, Internship at JICA Bolivia office )

Last week I was on a business trip for 6 days. The fast I went to "Cochabamba" where 3rd biggest city in Bolivia. I have been to three schools to observe a class of language and social studies. One school there is one area that many peoples speak the local language. Its school's language class was different from the other schools’. Teachers can speak the local language fluently. And teachers made the text of local language to teach more detail. Furthermore, those students also can speak the local language. When I said "I came to this school to see your language class.", those student's faces were so smiling. They taught me the local language eagerly. This hope is maybe my ego, but I want to continue like this class for the future. The next, I went to "Santa Cruz de la Sierra" to accompany the briefing for farmers with JICA experts. I could see how experts are working. It was a very precious experience for me. Already it left two weeks until I go back to Japan... I don't have much time but I work my best.

Short Report 7 (from Bolivia,TAMURA Eka)

(4 Oct. 2019, Internship at JICA Bolivia office )

Finally, I finished my internship work in Bolivia. I have done a final presentation about my work of public relations. Actually I couldn't do a good presentation. I had to focus on some job that decided before. I did various kinds of relationships, but also I had to put some big work for me.I reflected on the presentation. About the presentation, I don't satisfy but many colleagues say to me "Thank you for your work of public relationships." If I stay here for a long time, my result doesn't change even in the future. I want to be a good experience that bad memory also.So I'll work on hard more to say "I could study various things through the internships".

Short Report 8  (from Philippines,KAWASAKI Daiki)

(Aug. 2019, Internship at Nonprofit organization IMAGINUS)

I had stayed 2 weeks. As an NPO on-going program I actually visited the villages and surveyed the needs of the villagers in this week. Whereas my research survey, next week I will conduct survey to get the basic information of villagers in new village. And I will study the contract of the weather index insurance and research method for measuring the risk aversion.Current issue is time management. Because I take English lessons on weekdays, it takes time. And I feel that the issue is how to reduce the time required for each job. Get advice from other intern students and understand where I am spending too much time. For issues that seem to be taking too long, I set my own time limit so that I don't spend too much time. From the point of concentration, I think it will be more efficient by running a cycle of 25 minutes work and 5 minutes break.

Short Report 9 (from Philippines,KAWASAKI Daiki)

(8 Sep. 2019, Internship at Nonprofit organization IMAGINUS)

This week I conducted the survey for my research in Kabayabusan (others village). In the survey I had conducted the risk preference game. I thought that some people be able to understand the game. But the other people doubtful understand. After interview I asked them their impression of the game every time. Almost all subjects answered they was able to understand the game mean. But I don't know how to measure their understanding. Then I find out that I need to learn how to measure their understanding. Next week, I will focus to study how to measure understanding of subjects to the game.

Short Report 10 (from Philippines,KAWASAKI Daiki)

(15 Sep. 2019, Internship at Nonprofit organization IMAGINUS)

My internship passed for 6 weeks. This week have conducted analyzing collected data from interview in Kabayabsan (village) last week. From this village I got farmer's basic information, risk preference and willingness to pay for Weather Index Insurance.
Actually, conduct analyze the data, I felt that it was difficult to find correlation. And I felt it was difficult to explain in an easy-to-understand to people who did not know about risk preference in weekly presentation. As a separate job, I compiled this week's activity into a text for posting on Facebook to get to know NGO activities. Next week, I will improve my presentation and participating in project in progress of NGO that is product development.

Short Report 11 (from Philippines,KAWASAKI Daiki)

(22 Sep. 2019, Internship at Nonprofit organization IMAGINUS)

This week we focused on creating prototypes for new product development. And to ask our prototype design, we asked the guests who are currently staying in my institution gest house.
From their comment, I am redesigning the new prototype.
Additionally, I considered the division of roles between villagers and NGOs. I also consider the system from product manufacturing to getting the profits of NGOs.

Short Report 12 (from Philippines,KAWASAKI Daiki)

(30 Sep. 2019, Internship at Nonprofit organization IMAGINUS)

Final week I visited the project area to discuss how to sell the new product and how to get the benefits of villagers. This weekend, I wanted to sell the products our developed, but we could only decide on the design of a new product and sales channel. For this reason, we created a document that shows the next steps and issues so that it will be easy to take over this project when the next internship student comes. on the other hand, about analyzing my survey, I revise it again. And get feedback from NGO staff.  From the feedback I want to revisit it so that I can get better.

Short Report 22 (from Indonesia,PENG BUNHEANG)

(9 Sep. 2019, Internship at Puslitbang Perumahan dan Pemukiman (PUSKIM))

How fast it is?For this week, I spent almost my time with PUSKIM by going to the field and working in the office tasks with them. Through these days, I have involved in one of their main current research which is "Low Energy Housing Area Design Concept". This research has the same objective as my research which is how to save energy in residential house; however, we use different treatment to test it as my research more likely to focus on human behavior while they are more interested in building design. Therefore, I feel it is an interesting for me to look at the topic from another corner not just only human behavior alone. Sometimes, construction can take big part to improve energy saving.
I have learnt many things from them including the measurement of airflow inside and outside the house, how to use data for simulation, and others.
My supervisor and colleagues are kind, friendly, and helpful. They share and explain me what I would like to know...I have a great time with them...And today, I came to UPI to collect my task and distribute my Questionnaire to students.
Then I turn back to PUSKIM until Thursday, I will come to collect my Questionnaire back...
