Use of UD-Books (Universal Design Books with Text and Audio)
UD-Books are accessible digital books that maintain the same layout as the original printed version, with features such as text-to-speech and synchronized highlighting. Students who use UD-Book textbooks at school or home are eligible to use UD-Books.
For information on how to use UD-Books, please refer to the link below.
Note: Access for Hiroshima University students, faculty, and the general public is currently under consideration.
Use of Magnifying Reader
A magnifying reader is available at the Central Library and West Library for users with visual impairments. This device enlarges printed text on a screen, making it easier to read materials written in small fonts.
If you wish to use the magnifying reader, please inquire at the service desk of the Central Library or the service desk of the West Library.

Sapie Library is the largest database in Japan for braille and audio books. It includes catalogs of materials created or held by Sapie member facilities and organizations nationwide, as well as braille and audio book publication catalogs.
Personal membership is required to access these materials.
This service, provided by the National Diet Library of Japan, allows individuals with visual impairments to access specially formatted digital materials online.
Eligible individuals can use this service directly from home via the internet.
This system allows users to search for metadata of digitized learning materials created for people with print disabilities, such as those with visual impairments. These materials are registered by university libraries, support offices for students with disabilities, and other institutions. UD-Books created by Hiroshima University are also searchable through this system.
