Program of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Goals of students in Program of Pharmaceutical Sciences (6-year academic course) are:

  1. Acquiring the ability to cope with new problems ambitiously through creative thinking skills
  2. Acquiring the ability as highly-specialized pharmacists capable of expressing opinions from the scientific point of view in team approach medicine
  3. Acquiring the ability as pharmacists who can understand medical condition / diagnosis of patients, and bear the responsibility for the use of medical drugs thorough proposing proper prescriptions
  4. Acquiring the ability to create novel pharmacotherapeutic strategies oriented from the world-leading pharmaceutical research

Cultivation of highly qualified pharmacists through a 6-year curriculum

Program of Pharmaceutical Sciences strives to help students obtain accurate chemical/medical information on pharmaceutical products and a strong interest in science after their 3rd year, while offering basic pharmaceutical knowledge at their 2nd and 3rd years. In pursuit of becoming pharmacists and pharmaceutical researchers with a high degree of expertise, students are able to acquire skills as pharmacists; expressing their opinions from a scientific perspective as a member of a medical team and having a responsibility for proper use of pharmaceutical products. Moreover, we enforce a collaborative research project, the advanced education program to cultivate highly skilled and specialized pharmacists capable of taking a leading role in the world」, supported by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan. Students are qualified to take the national examination for pharmacists at graduation. Those who pass the exam can work as a pharmacist after officially registered as a pharmacist by Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Students are also given the chance to proceed to a 4-year doctoral course at Division of Biomedical Sciences, Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences and obtain Doctor of Pharmacy.
