National Diet Library Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries

At the Central Library, users can view and print digitized images of materials listed in the National Diet Library Digital Collections that are difficult to obtain due to reasons such as being out of print.

Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Individuals

As of May 2022, individual users are now able to view and print digitized images of selected materials. We invite you to take advantage of this convenient personal-use service.

  • To use this service, individual registration with the National Diet Library (free of charge) is required. Please note that registration is available only to residents of Japan.
  • The library-based service remains available and continues to operate as before.

  • Central Library’s Inter-Library Loan desk (1 dedicated terminal)

How to Use

Eligible Users

Students, faculty members, emeritus professors, and Friendly members.

  • This service is not available to members of the general public. Please consider using the Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Individuals or visiting public libraries such as the Hiroshima Prefectural Library.
  • Printing is available only to users who hold qualifications that allow inter-library loan requests from other universities.

How to View

Please fill out the viewing application form and present your Student ID, Staff ID, or Friendly User Card. After login by a staff member on a dedicated terminal, you may begin viewing.

  • The application form is available at the counters.
  • Usage time is limited to one hour. (Extensions are possible if there are no other users waiting.)
  • Downloading or saving digital images is not permitted. Please refrain from copying the screen or taking photos using cameras or other devices.

Copying Instructions

Copying (black and white / color) is available within the limits of copyright. All copying will be handled by library staff.

  • Please note that materials held by Hiroshima University Library or available online (e.g., licensed e-journals, freely accessible internet resources) cannot be copied.
  • To request copies, please use the "Document Copy Request" option in the [User Menu]. When submitting your request, be sure to write “NDL Digital” in the remarks section and indicate the number of frames rather than pages.
