Four departments (1st Department of Oral Anatomy, Department of Oral Physiology, Department of Oral Biochemistry and Department of Oral Pathology) were established.

Six departments (2nd Department of Oral Anatomy, Department of Oral Microbiology, Department of Biomaterials Science, 1st Department of Operative Dentistry, 1st Department of Removable Prothodontics and Department of Oral Surgery) were established.

・Building A (the primary construction) of the Faculty of Dentistry and the University Dental Hospital was completed.

Two departments (2nd Department of Endodontics and Periodontology, 2nd Department of Fixed Prosthodontics) were established.

Animal Laboratory of the Faculty of Dentistry was completed.

The Dental Technicians School was established at the Faculty of Dentistry.

The 2nd Department of Oral Surgery was established. The already existing Department of Oral Surgery was renamed the 1st Department of Oral Surgery.

New building B was completed.

・The School for Dental Hygienists (specialized training college) was established at the Faculty of Dentistry, and the Department of Dental Hygiene of the Dental Hygienist Course was established at the college.
・The Department of Dental Technique of the Dental Technicians Course was established at the attached Dental Technicians School which became a specialized training college.

・The Department of Oral Radiology was established.
・A quota per year was expanded to 80 students.

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry was established.

New building D was completed for education in the Faculty of Dentistry.

New building C was completed for clinical research developments.

Administrations of the Faculty of Dentistry and University Dental Hospital merged and reorganized into General Affairs Section and Operative Affairs Section.

A quota per year was changed to 60 students.

・A quota per year was changed to 55 students.
・The number of transfer students admitted in the 3rd year is limited to 5 per year: Accepting transfer admission applications for April 2002 began.
・The Department of Dental Anesthesiology was established.

Nineteen departments of the Faculty of Dentistry were reorganized into five departments.

◆Apr. 2002
Five divisions of the Faculty of Dentistry were reorganized into five subjects.

◆Oct. 2003
Administrations of the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Dentistry and the Research Institute for Radiation Biology and Medicine were reorganized into two: administrations of the University Hospital and administrations of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

Hiroshima University was renamed Hiroshima University National University Corporation under the National University Corporation Law.

The School of Oral Health Science was established at the Faculty of Dentistry.

・The Attached Medical Practitioner Education Development Center was established as a unit affiliated with the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry.
・Transfer admission into 3rd year was changed to 2nd year (latter term).

The School for Dental Hygienists and the Dental Technicians School were closed.

The Attached Medical Practitioner Education Development Center was renamed the Attached Medical Practitioner Education Development Center (affiliated with Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, after the establishment of the Pharmacology Department).

The antiseismic reinforcement for the building A of the Faculty of Dentistry and University Dental Hospital was completed.

The antiseismic reinforcement for the building B of the Faculty of Dentistry was completed.

School of Oral Health Science was renamed (only Japanese).

BioDental Curriculum Center was established.

・Transfer admission into 2nd year (the quota 5) was abolished.
・The number of students admitted for School of Dentistry per year was changed to 53.
・Center of International Collaboration Development for Dentistry was newly established.

International Dental Course was established at the School of Dentistry of the Faculty of Dentistry.

・Following the establishment of Graduate School of Biomedical & Health Sciences, all subjects of the School of Dentistry in the Faculty of Dentistry were closed, and 1 subject of the School was newly established.
・Attached Medical Practitioner Education Development (affiliated with Faculties of  Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences) was abolished and Center for Medical Education was set up.

The antiseismic reinforcement for the building A(1~3F) of the Faculty of Dentistry was completed.

◆Oct. 2015
50th Anniversary Ceremony of the School of Dentistry was held.

The antiseismic reinforcement for the building D of the School of Dentistry was completed.

The antiseismic reinforcement for the building C of the School of Dentistry was completed.

Center for Dental Hygienists’ Education and Training was established.

The antiseismic reinforcement for the building A(4~6F) of the Faculty of Dentistry was completed.

BioDental Curriculum Center was abolished and Center for Dental Education was set up.
