From a socio-economic view point, the food production management section studies and conducts surveys on the production structure of agriculture and fisheries, sustainable use of food resource, environmental conservation, food production policy, and so on. This section is further divided into two parts:
1) Decentralized and participatory approach in food resource management and revitalization of local society: through fields studies in East Asia (Yamao, M.)
2) Production and marketing adoption of farmers, producing areas and their organizations in Japan, China and Thailand with consideration on the direction of policy (Hosono, K.)
