  • [Feb. 14, 2022] Weekly Bunkyo News reported about our international exchange online meeting supported by JST Sakura Science Exchange Program.
    Weekly Bunkyo News, volume 2687 (February 14, 2022) (BUNKYO NEWS Co., Ltd.) published our international exchange online meeting held on Dec 2-3, 2021, supported by JST Sakura Science Exchange Program. In the article, Director Tagawa reports the activities of the day as well as discussions on the status and prospects of the international exchange activities under the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021

  • [Dec. 2-3, 2021] We held an international exchange online meeting supported by JST Sakura Science Exchange Program.
    We held an international exchange online meeting supported by JST Sakura Science Exchange Program. Considering the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was held online using the Microsoft Teams system. Over 100 people, including undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty staff from 10 universities, participated in the two-day meeting: three universities (National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan; Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Indonesia; UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Indonesia) were core members and six universities (UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, Indonesia; UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, Indonesia; UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, Indonesia; UIN Sumatera Utara Medan, Indonesia; UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, Indonesia; UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Indonesia) were observers. The meeting included the following contents: (1) self-introduction of JST 2021 attendants, (2) information sharing on the COVID-19 countermeasures at each country and university, (3) Live broadcast of the experimental exhibition "Genome editing: CRISPR/Cas9-induced knockout mutations in tyrosinase and brachyury genes of the ascidian Ciona intestinalis." Furthermore, special lectures were given by Associate Professor Hiromi Takata (Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Ehime University) and Associate Professor Chisato Kitazawa (Faculty of Education, Yamaguchi University).
  • [Jan. 18-19, 2021] We held an international exchange online meeting supported by JST Sakura Science Exchange Program.
    We held an international exchange online meeting supported by JST Sakura Science Exchange Program. Considering the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was held online using the Microsoft Teams system. Over 100 people, including undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty staff from seven universities, participated in the two-day meeting. The meeting included the following contents: (1) presentation on the research and recent development by JST SSP attendants, (2) Live broadcast of the experimental exhibition "how to use the next-generation sequencer, MinION by Oxford Nanopore Technologies." Furthermore, special lectures were given by Assistant Professor Fumihiro Morishita (Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life, Hiroshima University) and Professor Toshifumi Sakaguchi (Faculty of Bioresource Sciences, Prefectural University of Hiroshima).

2020

  • [Nov. 24, 2020] Associate Professor Kunifumi Tagawa (Director of MBL & Visiting Professor of Faculty of Science and Technology, Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang (UIN Malang), Indonesia) and Associate Professor Tatsuya Ueki (Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Physiology) gave an online lecture to students of Faculty of Science and Technology, Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang (Indonesia).
    The lecture was held as a part of the master course program "International Guest Lectures (Biology Lecture Series)" for UIN Malang. About 60 students, including graduate and undergraduate students, attended the lecture.

2019

  • [Dec. 19-21, 2019] Dr. Eni Purwati (Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology) and the other three staff from UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya (Indonesia) visited MBL to discuss on the future international student exchange program.
  • [Dec. 13-19, 2019] Dr. Sri Harini (Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology) from UIN Malang (Indonesia) visited MBL to meet on the future international student exchange program.
  • [Nov. 26-30, 2019] Associate Professor Kunifumi Tagawa (Director of MBL) visited UIN Malang (Indonesia) to discuss on the future international student exchange program.
  • [Nov. 24-25, 2019] Associate Professor Kunifumi Tagawa (Director of MBL) visited UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya (Indonesia) to meet on the future international student exchange program.
  • [Oct. 15-24, 2019] Dr. Romaidi (Head of the biology department) and the other five staff from UIN Malang (Indonesia) visited MBL to discuss on the future international student exchange program.
  • [Oct. 1-7, 2019] We held an international exchange program, "Marine Biology Course," supported by JST Sakura Science Exchange Program.
    Eighteen people, including undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty staff from five universities in two countries (UIN Malang, Indonesia; UIN Alauddin Makassar, Indonesia; UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, Indonesia; IAIN Tulungagung, Indonesia; National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan), participated in seven days course. 2018

  • [Aug. 2-7, 2018] We held an International Summer School supported by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) Sakura Science Exchange Program.
    Ten people from two universities in Indonesia (UIN Malang, University of Jember) participated in six days course. They took special lectures and challenged some experiments on marine biology. Check here for a detailed report (in Japanese).
