On June 8th 2023, the Hiroshima University Writing Center (WRC) held a collaboration meeting with the Academic Writing Support Desk (AWSD), University of Tsukuba. The meeting was moderated by Parkpoom Kuanvinit, while the secretary role was performed by Adnan Muazzam. Also in attendance were Assistant Professor Dr. Tingjia Wang, Coordinator of Postgraduate Tutor Training program at the Writing Center, WRC staff members and the English tutors. Dr. Naheen Madarbakus-Ring from the Center of Education for Global Communication (CEGLOC) Department at the University of Tsukuba represented AWSD.   

During this inaugural meeting between WRC and AWSD, Dr. Naheen shared the First Year Feedback Reflections of AWSD with the WRC team. In her presentation, Dr. Naheen explained the short history behind AWSD’s establishment in 2021 and its purposes. Besides that, she also shared some interesting feedback from both tutors and tutees’ evaluation of AWSD’s services. The presentation concluded with a series of questions and answers between the tutors and Dr. Naheen.  

It was an eye-opening sharing session to see the mutual experiences echoed by the tutors and tutees in terms of writing services rendered. WRC is looking forward to future collaboration activities related to writing center services between the WRC and AWSD. Collaboration activities such as these could prove to be beneficial to strengthen the partnership and networking opportunities on both sides.
