【Report】 Nature Masterclasses Live Editor Workshop on Scientific Paper Writing and Publication

On March 24–25, 2026, Hiroshima University hosted the “Nature Masterclasses Live Editor Workshop on Scientific Paper Writing and Publication” at the Hiroshima Airport Hotel. The workshop featured two journal editors from Nature Portfolio: Dr. Ali Stoddart (Chief Editor, Nature Materials) and Dr. Jerome Staal (Senior Editor, Research, Nature Medicine).

This event was part of the Program for Forming Japan's Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS), titled "Seeing Matter with Synchrotron Radiation: Semiconductor, Supermaterial, and Bio-domain Convergence Realization of an Industrial Cluster Ecosystem." A total of 20 participants attended, including one participant from Kobe University, a partner institution in the J-PEAKS program. Participants represented a wide range of disciplines, including ecology, regenerative medicine, public health, drug discovery, chemistry, engineering, and ethics, providing an interdisciplinary platform for exchange.

Participant feedback indicated very high overall satisfaction; the researchers particularly valued the practical and clear guidance on scientific writing and publishing, as well as the opportunity to engage directly with experienced journal editors. The detailed advice on manuscript structure and clarity of writing was especially beneficial for early-career researchers.

In addition, active discussions and networking opportunities among participants contributed to meaningful interdisciplinary exchange, making the workshop a highly productive and engaging experience.
