Thirty-nine IGS 1st-year students participated in a first-year internship on Okunoshima island on June 1. The island is also known as Rabbit Island. After arriving Tadanoumi port, students took a ferry to the island.
They learned tourism management at the port, and natural environment and history on the island through hands-on activities. They visited Poison Gas Museum, observed vegetation and impact of rabbits on the natural environment, and made crafts using fruits/nuts and twigs of trees that inhabit the island. Also, they collected garbage and experienced educational activities for tourists who interacted with the rabbits. It was a meaningful day for students to learn about the island from the three academic perspectives of IGS.
