英語論文引用ガイド

なぜ引用をするのか?

引用は、学術的な執筆において不可欠な要素です。なぜなら、研究分野におけるこれまでの成果の参照を意味するからです。そのため、引用は学術論文における情報の質を高めるためによく使用されます。主張を裏付けたり、反対意見を示したりすることも可能です。

引用には、他の著者の言葉をそのまま使う「直接引用」と、他の著者の発言を自分の言葉で要約する「間接引用」の2種類があります。

引用スタイルにはさまざまな種類があり、それぞれに固有のガイドラインがあります。代表的なものとしては、APA（アメリカ心理学会）、シカゴスタイル、MLA（現代語学協会）、ハーバード方式などが挙げられます。

引用で必要な要素

文献を引用する際には、以下の要素を考慮してください。

著者名
出版年（発行された年）
タイトル（論文・書籍のタイトル）
雑誌名（巻号、号数、ページを含む）
出版社名および出版地（書籍や書籍のなかの一部の場合）
所属機関名（修士論文や博士論文の場合）
開催地および開催日（学会発表の場合）
ページ番号

間接引用：他者の主張や発見を自分の言葉で要約・言い換えする

引用スタイル

引用や参考文献リストの書式は、投稿先のジャーナル・機関・学会のスタイルに従う必要があります。
以下に代表的なスタイルごとの例を示します。

American Psychological Association (APA)

**直接引用（Direct Quotations）**
	形式	例
短い引用（40語未満）	直接引用には引用符（クォーテーションマーク）を使用してください。著者名、出版年、ページ番号を必ず記載する必要があります。1ページのみを示す場合は「p. 26」のように p. を用い、複数ページにわたる場合は pp. を用いて、ページ番号の間はエンダッシュ（–）で区切ってください。	According to Jones (1998), "students often had difficulty using APA style, especially when it was their first time" (p. 199). “You will be more motivated to write a good paper if you have thought about exactly why you want your research published” (Wallwork, 2016, p. 5).
長い引用（40語を超える場合）	ブロック引用は新しい行から開始し、左余白から 0.5 インチ（1.27 cm）インデントしてください。引用部分全体をダブルスペースにします。前後に余分な空白は入れないでください。引用符（クォーテーションマーク）は不要です。著者の姓、出版年、ページ番号を括弧内に記載してください。	You will be more motivated to write a good paper, if you have thought about exactly why you want to have your research published. One of your reasons will probably be because you believe you can make a contribution to a gap in the current knowledge base of your field. **間接引用（Indirect Quotations）**
	形式	例
単一の著者による文献を言い換え・要約する場合	著者の姓と出版年を必ず記載してください。これらの情報は、文末に括弧内で示すことも、また「according to」や「as stated by」などの導入表現を用いて文頭に置くこともできます。	(Wallwork, 2016) According to Wallwork (2016)
著者が2名の文献を言い換える場合	出典情報を括弧内に記載してください。著者名の間はアンパサンド（&）でつなぎ、出版年とともに括弧内に示します。	(Wollforth & Beasley, 2021).
著者が3名以上の文献	最初の著者の姓の後に省略形の et al. を用い、出版年を括弧内に記載します。	(Muller et al., 2019).
1つの文や段落で複数の文献を言い換える場合	著者名と出版年を括弧内に示し、アルファベット順に並べ、セミコロンで区切ってください。	(Muller, 2021; Smith, 2016).

Chicago (author-date)

**直接引用（Direct Quotations）**
	形式	例
短い引用（4行以内、または100語未満）	ダブルクォーテーションマーク（“ ”）で囲んでください。著者の姓、出版年、ページ番号を括弧内に記載する必要があります。もしくは、導入句を用い、著者の姓と出版年を括弧内に示し、本文をダブルクォーテーションマークで囲み、ページ番号を括弧内に記載してもかまいません。	The writer “must give the reader a clear message. 長い引用（4行を超える場合）	新しい行から引用を開始し、左余白から 1.5 インチ（3.81 cm）インデントした状態で、全文をダブルスペースのまま記載してください。括弧内引用は、句読点の後に置き、著者の姓およびページ番号を含めてください。	You could try to insert your paper into an ongoing discussion that is currently being covered in the journal. This approach may increase the chances of getting your paper approved by the editor. The topic you choose to write about is obviously related to the journal where you want to publish.
