Program of Public Health(Master’s Course)

In the rapid globalization and changes of disease structures associated with the social acceleration of super-low birthdate and super-aging, there is growing demand for health professionals who are skilled in public health including 5 disciplines; epidemiology, biostatics, social and behavioral sciences, health service administration, and environmental health science, along with expertise in the fields of medical treatment, health care, welfare, medical administration and clinical research. 
In response to technological advances and changes in socio-economic structures associated with globalization, it is also increasingly important to cultivate medical professionals who can conduct in various medical settings, therapy, clinical research, health care policies, health guidance, medical treatment and international health care in an appropriate and effective manner, after understanding the concept of regulatory science that ensures the highest standards for individuals and society by evidence-based accurate prediction, evaluation and decision.
Following the social and academic needs, Hiroshima University established Program of Public Health (Master’s course) : MPH Program ; Master’s Course Program of Public Health, that meets international standards, providing systematic education for 5 educational fields: 1) Epidemiology, 2) Biostatistics, 3) Social and Behavioral Sciences, 4) Health Service Administration, and 5) Environmental Health Sciences. The program aims to foster health care professionals, implementing evidence-based medicine (EBM) with an inquiring mind for research, and public health administrators engaged in policy planning. 
Under the policies of human resources development, the program also admits international students who will take leadership roles in public health in their home countries after completion of the curriculum.

Program of Public Health (Master’s course) offers a systematic degree program for the 5 disciplines satisfying international standards, which aims to foster the personnel who can evaluate / implement evidence-based medicine, take major roles in policy evaluation / planning as public health administrators, and contribute to international health.

  • Specialized knowledge and skills in 5 fields that can carry out evidence-based medicine (EBM); epidemiology, biostatics, social and behavioral sciences, health service administration, and environmental health science
  • Ability to tackle significant problems for clinical practice, health care and medical administration

Medical practitioners, dental practitioners, pharmacists, nurses, public health nurses, clinical technologists, physical therapists, radiological technologists, occupational therapists, nutritionists and clinical research coordinators(CRC) capable of evaluating and implementing evidence-based medicine
