Introduction of department
The motto of our department is “Children are not just small adults and have medical and surgical problems and needs that are often quite different from those encountered by adult physicians.” and since its formation, the Department has been dedicated to children’s healthcare and to finding new and better ways to treat childhood illnesses.
The department has the longest history in the Chugoku region, and most of the children we care for are referred from other hospitals all over Hiroshima and outside the prefecture.
The Department provides a full spectrum of pediatric surgical services for infants, children and adolescents, with the exception of cardiothoracic and neurosurgery, all surgeries are performed in the Department.
About 100 children undergo surgery at the Department each year.
