広島大学大学院生物圏科学研究科第10回国際サマースクールを、平成29年7月26日（水）から8月1日（火）までの7日間にわたって開催しました。

同スクールは、本研究科と国際交流協定校を中心とした海外大学の学生や若手研究者がグローバルな視野で生物圏科学領域の知識と技術を共有することを目的に平成20年より開催しているもので、第10回目となる今年は、釜慶大学（韓国）、全南大学（韓国）、東海大学（台湾）、アイルランガ大学（インドネシア）、ガジャマダ大学（インドネシア）、ボゴール農業大学（インドネシア）、ノン・ラム大学（ベトナム）、コンケン大学（タイ）、フィリピン大学ビサヤ校（フィリピン）、ビサヤ州立大学（フィリピン）、ペラデニヤ大学（スリランカ）の7ヵ国11校からの11名を本研究科に迎えました。

初日の7月26日には、サマースクールの概要等を説明するオリエンテーションの後、吉村幸則研究科長をはじめ研究科の教職員・学生ら36名が出席してウェルカムセレモニーが開催されました。セレモニーには来賓として東海大学（台湾）の何若瑄副教授も参加されました。その後、翌日からのプログラムワークの実施に向け、グループ毎に各担当教員らと打ち合わせを行いました。また、研究科学生の案内でキャンパスツアーも実施しました。

同日午後は、2つのグループに分かれて研究科内の複数の研究室を見学した後、研究科学生主催の国際交流パーティーを開催しました。日本人学生や留学生など多くの学生が参加したパーティーでは、参加者がそれぞれの国や大学の紹介を行い、交流を深めました。

翌27日・28日の2日間は、水産・海洋生物学（斉藤准教授）、動物生産科学（小櫃教授），食品化学・栄養学（鈴木教授）、応用分子生物学（船戸准教授）の4つのプログラムワークを開講し、参加者は学生アシスタントとともに高度な研究技術・知識を学びました。

7月29日には、スタディツアーとして、広島県内の二つの世界文化遺産である広島市の平和記念公園と廿日市市の宮島を訪れました。平和記念公園では資料館と原爆ドームを見学し、各国からの参加者達にとって、広島の歴史と平和について考える貴重な機会となりました。

午後には、宮島の厳島神社に参拝し、日本の伝統文化に触れました。

7月31日は、本研究科と包括的研究協力協定を締結している広島市内のオタフクソース株式会社を訪問し、ソースができる工程や製品管理について説明していただきました。

また、講師の方の説明を受けながら、参加者が自分でお好み焼きを焼く「広島お好み焼き体験コース」にも参加し、広島の食文化を楽しみながら経験しました。

最終日となる8月1日の午前中には、東広島市に本社のある精米機メーカーの株式会社サタケを訪れ、同社の様々な最新設備を見学させていただきました。

同日午後には、研究科説明会を開催し、研究科概要の紹介や研究科の留学生・修了生のプレゼンテーション、留学情報の提供及び質疑応答を行いました。

説明会の後にはフェアウェルセレモニーが行われ、吉村研究科長から参加者へ修了証書と記念品が授与されました。

最後は学内のカフェテリアでフェアウェルパーティーが開催され、丸山副学長、堀田副理事、川窪国際交流グループリーダー、研究科教職員、学生アシスタントら40名余りが参加し、参加者との別れを惜しみつつ、更なる交流を深めました。
