Undergraduate Education
Admission Policy
Hiroshima University expects to admit the following types of people:
1. Those who have a rich mind and wish to contribute toward peace
2. Those who are motivated to explore, create, and develop knowledge
3. Those who wish to contribute to the development of society by acquiring specialized knowledge and skills
4. Those who want to learn about various cultures and values, and play an active role locally and internationally
In order to admit such individuals, each school/department clearly states the abilities they are looking for in applicants, based on its own Diploma Policy and Curriculum Policy and how they will be evaluated in relation to knowledge, technical skills, thinking skills, judgment, ability to express opinion and ideas, initiative, and teamwork skills. On the basis of these skills, applicants will be selected through a multifaceted and comprehensive evaluation process.

Graduate School Education
Admission Policy
Master’s Programs
Based on both the Diploma Policy and the Curriculum Policy, Hiroshima University expects students applying to its master’s programs to have the following ambitions and motivations, as well as the fundamental academic skills necessary for admission.
1. Those who share the philosophy of Hiroshima University, and who are willing to contribute to the building of a free and peaceful international society that embraces diversity, by taking on current and future societal problems, using their education, knowledge, abilities, and drive
2. Those who aim to create peace science, “Science for Sustainable Development”, from multiple perspectives by acquiring advanced knowledge and research skills in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and life sciences, as well as a broad liberal arts education; or, those who wish to contribute to society by applying the results of their academic studies
3. Those who are motivated to create a sustainable and shared society by acquiring a deep understanding of diversity and international communication skills in a campus that offers world-class education and research opportunities, where open-minded young people and professionals from all over the world gather
In order to admit such individuals, each graduate school selects applicants through a multifaceted and comprehensive evaluation process based on its own Diploma Policy and Curriculum Policy, using interviews, academic tests, and external examinations.
Doctoral Programs
Based on both the Diploma Policy and the Curriculum Policy, Hiroshima University expects students applying to its doctoral programs to have the following ambitions and motivations, as well as the fundamental academic skills necessary for admission.
