On September 30 and October 5, 2026, a Welcome Party was held at the Mermaid Café Hiroshima University branch, located on the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Hiroshima University.

  This event was organized to welcome new international students who arrived at Hiroshima University in October and to provide an opportunity for international exchange among all students and faculty members on campus.

  One of the four welcome events held annually alongside the IDEC×SmaSo Open Day and the Cultural Exchange Event, it attracted a total of 400 students and faculty members over the two days. Participants enjoyed food and drinks while making new friends and expanding their social circles.

  During the opening ceremony, Vice Executive Director Kim and two representatives from international student associations delivered speeches, expressing their delight in welcoming the new international students into the university community.

　Participants commented that they were able to connect with others beyond language barriers and appreciated the opportunity to meet people from diverse backgrounds. The event was very well received as a valuable platform for intercultural exchange.
