On October 15, 2026, Mrs. Alzakhgui Delgermaa, Consul-General of Mongolia in Osaka, and Mr. Masato Oue, Honorary Consul of Mongolia in Hiroshima, visited Hiroshima University (HU) and paid a courtesy call on Executive Vice President (Global Initiatives) Shinji Kaneko of HU.

Since July 2026, HU has been hosting 22 Mongolian students as special auditing students under the Mongolian Presidential Scholarship Program "ILGEELT-2100" through the "Hiroshima University Morito Institute of Global Higher Education Study Abroad Program for Students of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology." During the meeting, the participants engaged in a lively exchange of views on educational and research exchanges between Japan and Mongolia, future collaboration, and the acceptance of students through the program.

During their visit, the Consul-General and Honorary Consul observed a Japanese language class taught by Deputy Executive Director Kumiko Sakoda of HU. The Mongolian students gave presentations showcasing what they had learned through their studies. Mr. Enkhbayar Baatartsol, Director of the Department of External Cooperation at the Mongolian Ministry of Education, also joined online and watched the students' presentations. The Consul-General and Honorary Consul interacted with the students studying in Japan and offered them words of encouragement.

Following these activities, a luncheon hosted by the Consulate-General of Mongolia in Osaka brought together the Consul-General and Honorary Consul, Professor Miki Shibata, Director of the Morito Institute of Global Higher Education, Deputy Executive Director Kumiko Sakoda, the 22 Mongolian students participating in the program, and three senior Mongolian students. The luncheon provided an opportunity for everyone to deepen their connections in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

This visit is expected to further strengthen educational and research exchanges between Japan and Mongolia, including human resource development through the program.
