Hiroshima University Study Abroad (HUSA) Program students and graduate students participated in Online Hiroshima University Open Lecture

On June 16 & 23, 2021, Hiroshima University Study Abroad (HUSA) Program students, and graduate students taking “Intercultural Understanding: Social Theories and Practice,” participated in Online Hiroshima University Open Lecture “Connecting Global Society, University, and Local Society ~Preparing Yourself for Intercultural Contact~” (Dr. Naomi Tsunematsu). Mr. Jack Barry, a HUSA Program exchange student from Cardiff University in UK and Ms Madelyn Hunzelman, a HUSA Program exchange student from USAC in USA joined the lecture. They contributed their intercultural challenges under the Covid-19 and their views on cultural differences in courtesy. In online open lecture participants shared various kinds of intercultural experiences. The lecture became a place where participants shared their stories of intercultural communication and culture shock, and examined together the development of intercultural understanding, hearing international students’ live voices on their experiences in study abroad. We will continue to enhance intercultural understanding by connecting local people, international students, and students on campus.
