On June 10th, 2022, Consul-General Mr. Sorut Sukthaworn from the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Fukuoka, paid a courtesy call to the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Hiroshima University (HU) and engaged in discussion with HU President Mitsuo Ochi. The meeting was also attended by Executive Vice President in charge of Global Initiatives, Shinji Kaneko, and Executive Vice President in charge of Peacebuilding, Funding and Asia Region, Toshiyuki Sato.

During the meeting, opinions were shared on student exchanges through the START Program and other programs at HU, as well as interactions between HU and universities in Thailand.

So far, HU has dispatched many Japanese students to Thailand through various study abroad programs, and 27 Thai students are currently studying at HU. Going forward, it is hoped that this visit will promote student and research exchanges with universities in Thailand.
