Rector Nguyen Hung Quang of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (Vietnam) Visits HU

On September 27, 2024, a delegation led by Rector Nguyen Hung Quang of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), Vietnam, visited the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Hiroshima University (HU) and engaged in discussion with HU President Mitsuo Ochi. The meeting was also attended by Executive Vice President (Global Initiatives) Shinji Kaneko. During the meeting, they exchanged views on collaboration between the two universities, including the effective operation of the satellite campus established by HU at TUAF.

After the meeting, the participants toured HU's on-campus facilities, including the Amphibian Research Center, Higashi-Hiroshima Botanical Garden, and laboratories of the School of Applied Biological Science, as well as a sake brewery in Higashihiroshima City.

In December 2023, HU concluded an inter-university international exchange agreement for the establishment of a satellite campus with TUAF. In October 2024, HU will establish the Office of Hiroshima University at TUAF and launch a PhD program on agricultural sciences, offered by HU Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life.

HU is committed to nurturing local human resources by collaborating with Japanese companies starting business in Vietnam, focusing on the following four key areas: agriculture, semiconductors, carbon neutrality, and smart cities. Taking advantage of this visit, we will contribute to the development of both countries by strengthening exchanges with TUAF and other Vietnamese universities and research institutions, as well as with Vietnamese government agencies and private companies, and by accepting excellent Vietnamese students to HU.
