A Delegation from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) Visits HU

On November 6, 2024, a delegation led by Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (equivalent to a university president in India), paid a courtesy visit to Hiroshima University's Higashi-Hiroshima campus and held discussions with President Mitsuo Ochi and other university representatives.

Executive Vice President (Global Initiatives) Shinji Kaneko was also present during the meeting, and they exchanged views on study abroad programs, joint degree programs, and future collaboration between the two universities in education and research.

On the day following this meeting, Director Pant and his delegation are scheduled to visit our Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering to exchange views with the dean, faculty members, and others.

Founded in 1847 under British rule, IIT Roorkee is the oldest technical education institution in Asia. The university focuses on education and research in science and technology, and plays an important role in India's development by producing many entrepreneurs who are active in the country and abroad, as well as talented individuals who hold important positions in the Indian government and universities.

HU has concluded 25 inter-university international exchange agreements with 18 institutions and 15 inter-faculty international exchange agreements with 10 institutions in India. Currently, 25 students from India are studying at HU.
We hope that this courtesy visit will strengthen the ties between HU and India in terms of student exchange, education, and research.
