A Delegation from the University of Tuscia, Italy, Visits HU

On May 20, 2025, a delegation led by Prof. Stefano Ubertini, Rector of the University of Tuscia, Italy, paid a courtesy visit to Hiroshima University's Higashi-Hiroshima Campus and held discussions with HU President Mitsuo Ochi. The meeting was also attended by Executive Vice President (Global Initiatives) Shinji Kaneko. During the meeting, the two universities exchanged opinions on future student and faculty exchanges and the possibility of collaboration, including joint research.

The University of Tuscia was founded in 1979 in Viterbo, a city located in central Italy. With its highly innovative teaching focused on sustainability, ecological transition, and renewable energy, the University of Tuscia has been recently confirmed among the 150 best young universities in the world, and has one of the highest student satisfaction rates in Italy. This courtesy visit was made possible by the University of Tuscia’s interest in the “University Partners for Peace and Sustainability” network proposed at the 1st University Presidents for Peace Conference held at HU on August 6, 2024, and the University of Tuscia’s subsequent wish to visit HU.

HU has 3 inter-university international exchange agreements with 3 institutions and 2 inter-faculty international exchange agreements with 2 institutions in Italy. Currently, 2 students from Italy are studying at HU. This visit is expected to promote exchanges with the University of Tuscia and other Italian universities and research institutions.
