Highlights from the 2025 Completion Ceremony of Hiroshima University 3+1 Program

On July 3, 2025, the Program Completion Ceremony for Hiroshima University 3+1 Program was held in Lecture Room 255 of the School of Economics.

This year, a total of 165 students completed their studies in the program, which included participants from both the "Morito Institute of Global Higher Education 3+1 Program" and  "The IDEC Institute 3+1 Program," newly launched in 2024.

In his congratulatory speech, the president of Hiroshima University, Mitsuo Ochi, acknowledged the value of learning in a different culture and environment for the students while sharing his similar experiences. He concluded by offering heartfelt encouragement to the graduates, expressing his hope that the knowledge and experiences gained at Hiroshima University will empower them to succeed on the global stage.

On behalf of the program students, Pan Feng delivered a speech and reflected on her time at Hiroshima University, noting that she grew through both the friendships she formed with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds and the challenges she overcame during her study abroad experience. She concluded her speech by reaffirming her commitment to contributing as a bridge for international understanding and cooperation.

After the ceremony, we organized a farewell party with the president Ochi, program students, and their academic supervisors. The participants enjoyed a valuable moment of communication and interaction.

※This program accepts students who have completed their second or third year at our international partner universities as Special Auditing Students. It offers specialized education and research supervision to support the completion of their graduation theses, which are submitted to their home institutions. Hiroshima University also encourages students to pursue postgraduate studies at the university upon completion of the program with a structured pathway to facilitate this transition.

Named after Tatsuo Morito, the first president who championed the spirit of “a single unified university, free and pursuing peace”, the program was initially inaugurated as the “Morito Institute of Global Higher Education 3+1 Program”, offering courses primarily in Japanese. In 2024, we launched another 3+1 program, “The IDEC Institute 3+1 Program”, which provides research guidance in English. With the addition of this English-based program, both programs have been unified under the banner of the Hiroshima University 3+1 Program.
