HU Signs a Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement with the National Institute for Special Education of Cambodia

On December 19, 2025, H.E. Serei Chumneas, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia, together with a delegation from the National Institute for Special Education of Cambodia, visited the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Hiroshima University (HU) and held a signing ceremony for a comprehensive cooperation agreement on educational collaboration with HU. Following the ceremony, they paid a courtesy visit to President Mitsuo Ochi.

In addition to Executive Vice President (Global Initiatives) Shinji Kaneko, the meeting was also attended by Yumiko Suzuki, Director of the Institute for Diversity & Inclusion and Executive Vice President (Education and Peacebuilding), as well as Norimune Kawai, Head of the Management Department and Well-being Promotion Office of the Institute for Diversity & Inclusion.
During the meeting, participants exchanged views on future possibilities for collaboration between HU and the National Institute for Special Education of Cambodia, including joint research, the acceptance of trainees, and exchanges of experts.

HU has concluded 12 inter-university international exchange agreements with 11 institutions and 5 inter-faculty international exchange agreements with 4 institutions in Cambodia. Currently, 50 Cambodian students are studying at HU. With this visit and the conclusion of the agreement, HU will promote further exchange with universities and research institutions in Cambodia.
