International Exchange

A Delegation from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay Visits HU

On May 15, 2026, a delegation from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), led by Sudarshan Kumar, Dean of International Relations, paid a courtesy visit to Hiroshima University (HU) and met with Executive Vice President for Global Initiatives Shinji Kaneko. Specially Designated Associate Professor Sushil Raut of the IDEC Institute also attended the meeting. During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between the two universities, including the promotion of exchanges among researchers and students.

IIT Bombay is a public university established in 1958 in Mumbai, India’s largest commercial city, as a higher education institution dedicated to cultivating the country’s future leaders.
At the First University Presidents for Peace Conference, held on August 6, 2024, at HU’s Higashi-Senda Campus, IIT Bombay President Shireesh Kedare and Dean Kumar participated in the discussions. In addition, in September 2025, IIT Bombay concluded a departmental exchange agreement with HU’s Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering, further deepening exchanges between the two institutions.

HU has concluded 34 inter-university international exchange agreements with 22 institutions in India, as well as 17 inter-faculty agreements with 11 institutions. Currently, 50 Indian students are studying at HU. It is expected that this visit will further promote exchanges with IIT Bombay as well as other universities and research institutions in India.
