On January 31, 2017, Acting Vice President for Research Professor Hassan El-Hofy and eight other faculty members from the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) visited the Hiroshima University Higashi-Hiroshima Campus along with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

E-JUST, where JICA is currently conducting its technical cooperation projects, was established in 2009 by the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt based on an agreement with the Government of Japan. Although it only accepts graduate students at present, preparations are underway for the introduction of undergraduate programs which are scheduled to begin this autumn.

During the visit, various topics including the establishment of undergraduate programs were discussed in an active exchange of opinions and ideas. The topic of Peace subjects，which are unique to the HU liberal arts program, also garnered great interest from the participants, who asked a number of questions regarding the aims and contents of those subjects. The delegation then went on to visit the Central Library Learning Commons, Student Plaza, and Accessibility Center on the campus.

E-JUST and Hiroshima University concluded its inter-university exchange agreement on December 7, 2016. It is expected that further progress in academic exchange, including the exchange of students and researchers between the two universities will continue.
