Commemorative Tree Planting Ceremony with Dr. Girish Sahni from CSIR, India

On January 18 2018, Hiroshima University held a Commemorative Tree Planting Ceremony with the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) wishing for the development of academic exchange with the said institution. Dr. Girish Sahni, the Director General of CSIR, visited the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of HU and attended the ceremony with President Mitsuo Ochi. During the ceremony, they planted a plane (platanus) tree as the sign of the friendship between the two institutions.

Having as many as 38 affiliated state-run laboratories, CSIR is known as one of the largest government-related research and development institutions in India. Their main activities include the promotion of research for science and technology, cultivation of young scientists, improvement of research environment, and intellectual property activities.

On this occasion, a joint workshop was held to coincide with the above ceremony. It is hoped that educational research exchange between the two institutions will be further developed.
