The results of Nikkei BP Consulting Inc.'s “University Brand Image Survey 2019-2020” were announced on November 27, showing that Hiroshima University came top for its brand image among 59 major universities in the Shikoku and Chugoku region. This is the third consecutive year in which the University leads the ranking list.
HU came first place in 34 out of 49 survey items including “Leading a new era”, “High problem-solving ability”, “Contributing to the local industry”, among others. The University’s overall score was of 94.6 points, which shows an increase of 3.5 points compared with that from the previous survey.
Furthermore, in the analysis where these 49 items have been grouped into 6 categories, the University was ranked top in the following: “First-class”, “Creativity”, “Global” and “Regional Contribution”.
We think that the reason behind such excellent survey results lies in the joint efforts made by HU for globalizing the University, exemplified by the University having been able to double its overseas bases to 22 bases in 15 countries and regions in the past five years; and 1 out of every 10 freshmen students participating in a short-term study abroad program, in addition to Hiroshima University's renowned education and research capabilities.
