The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) has informed us about the approval of the "Emergency Student Support Handout for Continuing Studies", a project to support students in financial trouble.

Overview

[Target students]
Students who are economically independent and at risk of being unable to afford tuition fees due to a loss in their part-time job incomes amid the spread of novel coronavirus, making it difficult to continue their studies.

[Benefit amount]
Students from low-income households (Exempted from local income taxes) 200,000 yen
Students other than the above 100,000 yen

[Application]
Students who wish to request the benefit must apply through their universities. Each university will confirm the students' financial conditions before the money is paid out through the Japan Student Services Organization.
