The Morito Institute of Global Higher Education 3+1 Program Welcomes 44 New Students

On October 1st, the opening ceremony for the 5th group of students in the Morito Institute of Global Higher Education 3 +1 Program was held in lecture room K308, the Morito Institute of Global Higher Education, Higashi-Hiroshima campus.
This year, for its fifth year, the program welcomed a total of 44 students including 37 4th year students and 7 3rd year students from universities in China. The new students, dressed up in suits, looked a bit nervous as they participated in the opening ceremony.
The ceremony was also broadcast live, allowing those who could not yet enter Japan due to COVID-19 to participate in the ceremony online.

President Ochi said in his opening remarks, “I would like to express my respect towards your desire to study, and your decision to join this program, despite it being such an uncertain time due to the global pandemic. It is my sincere wish that you make the most of Hiroshima University’s educational resources, while enjoying a fulfilling school life.”

The Morito Institute of Global Higher Education 3 +1 Program of Hiroshima University welcomes international students from overseas, who have completed the 3rd or 2nd year of their undergraduate programs at their home institutions. The program is unique in that we accept such students as “Special Auditing Students,” offering specialized education or research guidance that will contribute to the completion of their own graduation thesis.
The name of this program derives from Tatsuo Morito, the first president of Hiroshima University, who proposed the university’s founding principle “a single unified university, free and pursuing peace”.
Out of the 133 4th year students who participated last year, 60 are continuing their studies as graduate or research students at Graduate Schools of Hiroshima University.
