Agreement signed with Japan External Trade Organization to promote comprehensive collaboration

On November 20, Hiroshima University and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) signed an agreement to promote further cooperation in international academic research, human resource development, and industry-university collaboration.

Hiroshima University and JETRO have been promoting cooperation in the area of international industry-academia collaboration for some time, but the two institutions will now work together to promote broader and more multifaceted cooperation to address international issues, such as the support of university-launched emerging companies and the development of global human resources.

In his opening remarks, Chairman of JETRO Mr. Nobuhiko Sasaki said, “We would like to support the international expansion of Hiroshima University through the JETRO’s overseas network and strengthen the partnership so that Hiroshima can become a catalyst for innovation, bringing researchers and businesses from around the world to Hiroshima University.”

In response, Hiroshima University President Mitsuo Ochi commented, “Next fall, we will start accepting students at the Arizona State University/Hiroshima University Global Campus, and we aim to collaborate extensively with the local community, government, and universities in and outside of Japan, through our international exchange base facility. I hope that JETRO and Hiroshima University will continue to work together to promote innovation and revitalization.”
