The 1st term of classes started on Thursday, April 8, and students have returned to campus. Although there are still many limitations, I would like to encourage all students to make the most of the university's resources and have as fulfilling a campus life as possible.

To all the new students, how do you feel about your first exposure to "learning" at the university? You may be feeling nervous about the different style of classes from high school, but please do not be in a hurry and get used to it little by little.

The long holidays (Golden Week) will soon begin. It's been almost a month since classes started, and you may start to feel tired from the new environment, so please take a moment to relax and refresh your body and mind.

During the long holidays, some of you may be traveling back home. At the same time, however, COVID-19 infection is spreading again in Japan, and "Priority Measures to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19" are being implemented, so each of you needs to be more careful. Therefore, please take the following measures.

• Please refrain from unnecessary travel to and from the areas where the “State of Emergency” and “Priority Measures to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19” have been implemented(*1), check the information issued by each local government, and make careful decisions about traveling to high-risk areas.
• When traveling to the places mentioned above, please try to relax at home with your family and avoid eating and contact with people other than family members.
• When traveling to the places other than the above(*2), please avoid eating with other than family members.
• Please take sufficient measures to prevent infection in your daily life, including when traveling, such as avoiding the "Three Cs" (Closed spaces, Crowded places, Close-contact settings), wearing masks, and refraining from eating in large groups.

As a student of Hiroshima University, I would like to ask you again to continue to act with compassion, "not to be infected" and "not to infect others".

(*1) If you move due to unavoidable circumstances, please take the following actions.
・Obtain the approval of the tutor or academic supervisor and fill out the report form(Microsoft Forms) in advance.
・Stay at home for 14 days from the day after moving to Hiroshima prefecture. However, if there is no problem with your physical condition, and you take the PCR test after staying at home for 5 days, and the result is negative, you can cancel the staying at home.
・If you are unable to attend the face-to-face class due to staying at home, please contact the instructor in charge of the class in advance by e-mail. We will not treat you as absent, and will take measures so that you will not be disadvantaged in your subsequent courses.

(*2) If you move to a prefecture where "the number of newly infected people per 100,000 population in the last week is 5 or more", fill out the report form (Microsoft Forms) and report to your tutor or academic supervisor by email in advance.
 

We have established a system that allows students, faculty and staff who have stayed in the areas where the "State of Emergency" and "Priority Measures for Prevention of Spread" have been implemented to take the PCR test on campus. If you wish to take the PCR test, please read the attached procedure.
