Consul General Richard Mei, JR. from the U.S. Consulate General Osaka Kobe visits HU

On November 30th 2021, Consul General Richard Mei, Jr. from the U.S. Consulate General Osaka Kobe, paid a courtesy visit to our Higashi-Hiroshima Campus and met with President Mitsuo Ochi. The meeting was also attended by Executive Vice President Shinji Kaneko who is in charge of Global Initiatives.

During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University established in HU, as well as about strengthening academic interaction between HU and the US.

Prior to the meeting, the delegates exchanged opinions with people involved in MEXT’s Top Global University Project, in which HU has also been selected as a “Type A” university, as well as about our Town & Gown Office. Furthermore, they observed our autonomous shuttle HIROMOBI and visited the Phoenix International Center MIRAI CREA, which opened at the end of October this year.

Going forward, it is hoped that the partnership between HU and the US will be further enhanced through academic and personnel exchanges.
