HU alum finishes 5th in the Beppu-Oita Mainichi Marathon

Mr. Naoki Aiba, a 2012 graduate of the School of Law, placed 5th in the 70th Beppu-Oita Mainichi Marathon held on Sunday, February 6, 2022, completing the race in 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 44 seconds, his new personal record.

With this result, he qualified for the Marathon Grand Championship (MGC), the preliminary round for the Paris 2024 Olympics to be held in the fall of 2023.

While a student at Hiroshima University, he was a member of the track and field team and served as the captain. He participated in the All Japan University Ekiden (relay race) for four consecutive years, and in his fourth and final year, he ran the first section of the 44th All Japan University Ekiden, showing great performance finishing in 10th place.
