HU students win top prizes at the 2021 Campus Venture Grand Prix Chugoku Regional Tournament

Students from Hiroshima University's Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences and the School of Dentistry won top prizes at the 2021 Campus Venture Grand Prix Chugoku Regional Tournament whose awarding ceremony was held in Hiroshima City last January 20, 2022.

Excellence Award (Energia Chugoku Electric Power Award)
Chihiro Yoshiga, a first-year student at the Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences, along with Anju Lee and Sakura Minami, fourth-year students at the School of Dentistry, received the Excellence Award (Energia Chugoku Electric Power Award) for their proposed root-view vegetable garden planter.

"We never thought we would receive such an award, and we are very happy. We would like to express our gratitude to our professors for their enthusiastic support," said Yoshiga on behalf of the team.

Special Award (Nikkan Kogyo Newspaper Company Award)
Kaien Wakamatsu, a first-year student of the Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences, received the Special Award (Nikkan Kogyo Newspaper Company Award) for a proposed new functional mask that employs sustainable technology that could help achieve SDGs. The mask utilizes the aerosol collection effect by a titanium mesh membrane.

"I am very happy to receive this special award," said Wakamatsu.
