On March 14, 2022, Economic Minister Syed Nasir Ershad of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Japan paid a courtesy call to the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of HU, and met with Executive Vice President Shinji Kaneko, in charge of Global Initiatives.

During the meeting, the Minister expressed his appreciation for HU’s long history of hosting many Bangladeshi students through programs such as JICA’s human resource development program, JDS, which aims to foster human resources who will play important roles in the economic development of Bangladesh. In addition, opinions were exchanged on the possibility of exchange with universities in Bangladesh.

Prior to the meeting, a discussion between the Minister and Bangladeshi students was held, with 15 students taking part and engaging in topics such as their research and daily life at HU.

Going forward, it is hoped that this visit will promote further exchanges with Bangladeshi universities and research institutions.
