HU Student Wins INU Henry Fong Award

Yukai Yokoo

Ms. Yukari Yokoo (senior, Faculty of Letters) was awarded the International Network of Universities (INU) Henry Fong Award in November. The Henry Fong Award was given to one student from a pool of applicants who participated in the HU-sponsored INU Student Seminar from August 5 to August 10, 2007 and submitted essays on Global Citizenship. As the second recipient of this award following Ms. Eri Shigematsu (Faculty of Letters), Ms. Yokoo will receive tuition, round-trip airfare, and $4,300 for living expenses as a scholarship to study for 1 semester at any INU member university.

The INU Student Seminar is held every year in August (this year, approximately 60 participants from 12 schools in 9 countries attended) with the aim of providing an opportunity for students from INU member universities overseas to gather in Hiroshima and think about as well as discuss global citizenship through discussions with prominent guest speakers, workshops, and more. Next year, the 3rd Seminar is planned to be held from August 4 to August 10.
