HU holds ceremony to mark the completion of the Materials MBR Building and Data-driven Research Building

On July 21, 2022, Hiroshima University's (HU) Digital Monozukuri (Manufacturing) Education and Research Center held a ceremony to commemorate the completion of the Materials MBR Building and Data-driven Research Building (a.k.a. Testbed), which was completed in March 2022.

The commemorative ceremony began with opening remarks by Hiroshima Prefecture Vice Governor Yuko Tamai, HU President Mitsuo Ochi, and Project Manager Kiyotaka Shobuda (Representative Director and Chairman of Mazda Motor Corporation). It was followed by a guest speech by Director-General Sonoko Watanabe of the Cabinet Office and then a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

After the commemorative event, a tour of the facility was conducted for consortium member companies and others who participated in the event.

The Testbed is an open innovation center where under-one-roof co-creation activities are carried out to address issues that are difficult for individual companies to solve. Activities that aim to achieve social implementation, such as product commercialization, will be conducted through joint research with individual companies.
