On October 26, 2024, Hiroshima University hosted the international exchange event "ASIAN SATURDAY PART ①" at the Hiroshima University Phoenix International Center MIRAI CREA.
This event was designed to foster the formation of diverse communities and promote cross-cultural exchange by providing opportunities for international students and Higashihiroshima residents to interact. Additionally, by hosting events targeted at citizens from diverse backgrounds, it aims to serve as a new platform for promoting the internationalization of Higashihiroshima City.

MIRAI CREA
Following the "AFRICAN SATURDAY" event held in June 2024, this event was the second in this year's series and was conducted in two parts.
In the first part, 15 high school students from Hiroshima Prefecture joined 20 international students from Asia (Indonesia, Cambodia, Bangladesh, China, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and India) and their families. The international students first gave presentations introducing their traditional attire and cultural customs from their home countries. Afterward, the high school students tried on traditional clothing, took photos with the international students, and learned about local customs and traditions.
In the second part, international students at our university set up booths representing Indonesia, Bangladesh, China, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam, where they introduced the history and culture of their respective countries. Japanese students, Higashihiroshima residents, and international students with an interest in cultural exchange participated in the event. Through interactions with traditional clothing and musical instruments, participants deepened their understanding of Asian cultures.
Blessed with good weather on the day of the event, the second part saw 100 attendees enjoying the friendly cultural exchange.
Our university plans to continue hosting international exchange events in MIRAI CREA. The next event, "ASIAN SATURDAY PART ②," is scheduled for March 2025.
