Earlier today, what appears to be an unexploded ordnance was discovered on the Kasumi Campus. Police and relevant authorities are acting swiftly and appropriately to investigate and safely dispose of the item. First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest respect and gratitude to the specialized organizations carrying out this dangerous task. Thanks to their efforts, we are able to return to our daily lives with peace of mind.
This incident serves as a stark reminder that we continue to bear the scars of the war that Hiroshima once experienced. At the same time, it has strengthened our recognition that we have a mission to face this reality, to engrave the preciousness of peace even more deeply in our hearts, and to make use of it for the future.
As a university located in Hiroshima, the site of the atomic bombing, Hiroshima University will continue to be a symbol of peace and a source of hope for the future. No matter the challenges or the scars of the past, we will proudly carry on this history and continue to advocate for the value of peace to the world.
Once again, Hiroshima University declares its commitment to pursue peace and advance together with society. Rather than fearing the future, we will learn from the past and help shape a better future. This is both our responsibility and our pride.
