On June 23, 2025, a delegation led by President Cheng Chiping from the Changsha University, China, paid a courtesy visit to the Higashi-Hiroshima Campus of Hiroshima University (HU) and held discussion with Vice President (International Exchange/Japanese Language Education) Kazuhiko Koike. During the meeting, they exchanged opinions on the exchange program for graduate students and other initiatives to deepen the cooperative relationship between the two universities.
Changsha University was founded in 1970 in Hunan Province, China as a normal school. It is a comprehensive university offering a wide range of departments including literature, history, philosophy, economics, administration, engineering, science, law, education, medicine, agriculture, and the arts, and conducting many research projects as a provincial research base. In March 2017, an inter-university international exchange agreement was signed with HU.
HU has concluded 133 inter-university international exchange agreements with 121 institutions and 84 inter-faculty international exchange agreements with 80 institutions in China. Currently, 1,132 students from China are studying at HU, including 5 students from Changsha University. With this visit, HU will promote exchange with Changsha University as well as other universities and research institutions in China.
